Multi-generational family living in unsanitary and unsafe conditions finds support through Hardship Grant

In just a one-bedroom Gibraltar apartment, Mina manages a multigenerational household, caring for both her mother and her two teenage children. With resources severely strained, keeping up repairs in the home is very difficult. When her sink broke, not only was Mina unable to repair it, but the leaking ended up damaging both her refrigerator and stove. Our partner, the EV Foundation worked directly with government support services in getting the sink repaired, however without a working refrigerator or oven, keeping food in the home and preparing meals became impossible.

As part of our hardship grant programme we were able to come to Mina’s aid. Through a hardship grant, we were able to provide the family with a new refrigerator and stove and help them maintain a basic standard of living.

Our hardship grant program exists because we know that families stretched to the limit have no margin for error and are often living quietly in conditions most of us would not consider acceptable. Now Mina can manage her household and care for her family, and we are proud to support her.
