For a mother of four like Irene, every penny counts. Irene works hard in her employment to cover all her costs, but barely makes ends meet. Parents in situations like Irene’s are at risk of an outsized impact when the unexpected happens. For Irene the unexpected came when her refrigerator and boiler broke down within the same month. Irene found herself unable to replace both and needing to ask for help, something she had never done before.
Irene contacted the EV Foundation, and through the EV’s partnership with the Barzilai Foundation the family was able get a hardship grant and replace their boiler. Keeping a family with four children from having to choose between warm water or fresh food is an impact we are proud to be a part of.
Barzilai Foundation partnered with the EV Foundation to support Gibraltar vulnerable families, and to provide professional development opportunities as well as assist low-income families experiencing hardships.
