As part of the Barzilai Foundation’s ongoing commitment to protecting educational access for high-potential students, we are proud to announce the launch of a new program in partnership with the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Through this program, we will be providing financial support to highly motivated students at UW–Madison who face obstacles threatening to derail their academic progress and negatively impact their future. The program will provide hardship grants to adult students who are working to fulfill their potential, have financial need, and are facing significant extenuating circumstances.
Situations that inspired our foundation to support this program include:
- A student who became homeless due to divorce and fleeing from domestic abuse,
- A student who was hospitalized and lost wages that were critical for paying tuition,
- A student who was displaced due to a significant fire in their apartment building.
“Education is a path to a better future for these students. These situations are hard enough to deal with on their own, but for these tough times to also derail a person’s future just adds insult to injury,” said Brandon Sosa, CEO of the Barzilai Foundation. “Through in-the-moment financial support we can help these students stay on course, pursuing their academic goals at a world-class educational institution.”
