Jelane’s journey from Ethiopia to the U.S. compelled her to overcome language barriers and cultural challenges. She has since become an active and inspiring asset to her school community, serving in leadership roles in numerous extracurriculars and excelling academically despite English being her third language. Jelane is studying Biological Sciences at the University of Minnesota, with a goal to obtain a medical degree and improve health systems in developing countries.
